Hi, I’m Daniel!

Welcome to Digest with Dan. My name is Daniel Phu and this is my blog on foods and experiences. I’ll be writing reviews and recollections of my experiences at various restaurants and activities. I’m 24 years of age and live in the bright city of Sydney. Having grown up in a Chinese-Vietnamese where home-cooked meals were the norm, I’ve had the luxury of being exposed to delicious flavourful meals at a very. This luxury would be a constant my whole life as I would grow up and begin exploring the various cuisines that Sydney and the world would have to offer. Please follow me on this journey of gastronomy and entice your taste buds.


Inspiration for the blog

Why blog? I started the idea of blogging during the quarantine period from the effects of COVID-19. Not being able to visit my favourite restaurants made me reminisce about my many food adventures and it eventually led me to opening this blog so I could share my various experiences with you all. I know when I’m trying to pick out cool places to eat and drink, I tend to read through various people’s experiences through instagram and other blogs to see what the nuances about the dining experience. Hopefully I can give you guys that type of insight and help you decide where to eat, drink and eat some more!


What are my interviews about?

You may have noticed I’ve got an interviews section on my page and wondering what they’re about?

These interviews are conducted with various chefs and restaurant owners around Sydney so you guys can get to know the people behind the kitchen. COVID-19 has had an extraordinary impact on the world and none-so harsher than its impact on the hospitality industry. These interviews are a way to let you know more about the story of the people behind the scenes of some of your favourite eateries. In these interviews you can learn about:

  • What they did beforehand and how their restaurant came to be
  • What are they favourite dishes on the menu
  • What they went through during the COVID-19 shutdowns and how they managed through that period
  • What some of their favourite restaurants are
